THE LOWLAND WALK LEADER

Level 3 Qualification in LOWLAND EXPEDITION LEADER – Awarded by the Leadership Skills Foundation.

The Lowland Expedition Leader Course prepares responsible, motivated and confident people to independently lead safe, purposeful and enjoyable walks in lowland countryside in a paid or voluntary capacity. It is the next generation of the Basic Expedition Leader (Award). It will take you from a person who goes on their own walks to being a competent leader of others. It covers leadership skills, risk assessment, nutrition, equipment, safe practice, remit, how to organise and plan walks for others. In addition, it provides skills and experience for people wanting to lead expedition groups in the Uk and train people to lead their own independent, self-sufficient expeditions. Other than an enthusiasm for walking, and the outdoors, no prior knowledge or activity is required.

Minimum aged for enrolment 16 years – Qualified to work independently when 18 years.

ASSISTING LOWLAND EXPEDITION LEADER

The Assisting Lowland Expedition Leader Course prepares responsible, motivated and confident young people to assist leaders on expeditions. It will take you from a person who goes on their own walks to being a competent assistant leader. It covers leadership skills, risk assessment, nutrition, equipment, safe practice, remit, how to organise and plan walks for others. In addition, it provides skills and experience for people wanting to assist leaders of expedition groups in the Uk. Other than an enthusiasm for walking, camping and the outdoors, no prior knowledge or activity is required.

Minimum age for enrolment is 15 years – not to work unsupervised.
